Going Japanese

(Continuation of the vacation foods...)

05 Nov 08 - K really loved the sizzling fish we had for dinner the day before, so we decided to eat our late lunch / early dinner at Cafe Leona (Vigan City) again. The tables weren't set up outside yet, so we just ate inside the food place.

K cannot eat cheese, so we cannot eat pizza. K chose from the Japanese meal they had, and seeing that it has all what we needed to stay full towards the night (we would be traveling back via bus to Manila at 9PM), I decided to go with it, too.

Miso Soup

Soup was served first - this miso soup was delicious, but it really tasted like fish, so I didn't finish this up, I just ate all the tofu and seaweeds.

Japanese Meal

A very heavy meal, indeed. In my plate is a serving of beef teriyaki, 2 pieces shrimp tempura, some greens, and a cup of rice. After having the soup, it was a bit difficult to eat this one, but we weren't in a rush anyway (it was only 4:30PM), so we ate at our own pace, share stories and plan what to do next.

Ice Coffee

Normally, whenever I eat heavy meals, I finish it off with a cup of hot coffee, but seeing that they have blended ice coffee, I decided to have a glass of mochaccino. It was a wonderful way to cap off the meal. As always, K paid the tab. Thanks dear!

I noticed the salad shown with your meal. I'm looking for a recipe for a salad dressing that has a touch of sweetness and a touch of a fruit taste made with mayonnaise. I've eaten this at a "New Zealand" restaurant but understand it's a Japanese dish. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Jenn, the Foodie

I come from a family who loves cooking and eating. I never had any formal training in cooking and that I taught myself how to cook based on the handed down recipes, but I could say that I can cook good food. In 2008, I started documenting my food trips for my travel blog, and since I have quite enough to start a food blog, might as well put all those food trips in one location. Thus, a food blog is born - thanks to the new Friendster Blogs. However, due to several problems, I was left with no choice but to pack bags again and move here instead. Here's the permanent address, promise! Enough talk, let the food trippin' begin! {Know More About Me}
