Dr. Pepper

Dr. Pepper

K opted to book in Las Palmas Hotel in Malate, Manila even before flying here in the Philippines. Because we would go to the La Loma Cemetery, it was really best that the hotel must be near the LRT station, because upon asking the staff of the cemetery, taking the LRT seemed to be a sure way to get to the location.

After dropping our bags, we decided to go out and buy some bottled water. There were different refreshments in the hotel room's fridge, but the price was so over the top, and since the mall is just walking distance from the hotel, might as well go and buy our own refreshments.

While in the supermarket of the mall, we checked aisle per aisle to see if there would be some things we wanted to eat or bring with us for the vacation. Aside from the bottled water, I bought a bar of detergent soap and a can of Dr. Pepper soda.

Taylor Hanson, a member of my favorite band Hanson considers this as his favorite drink. Since I was in college I have wondered how this soda would taste like, but the local supermarkets near my area didn't have this product, so when I saw it, I just told K that I really needed to buy this one. =)

As clueless as I can be, I didn't know it was a cherry flavored soda. I am not a big fan of the fruit, so I could say I didn't really like the soda. I really thought it's like Coca-Cola or Pepsi, but it was okay. At least I know now how it tastes like. Now I am wondering why Taylor loves this one. Oh well, different strokes for different folks!

Sorry for the dark photo. I tried to use different settings for this one, and this was the best image I can come up with - turning the flash on would make the image unnatural.

I am not fond of Dr. Pepper, but that soda/pop has many followers in the US. However, that can is RED!

When I was young (once upon a time) Dr. Pepper was served in kosher delicatessens in New York City. This photo made me nostalgic.

now the jingle is stuck in my head - "I'm a Pepper, he's a Pepper, wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too"

if your photos weren't so pretty I'd kill for that ;)

I'm not much of a soda drinker and never liked Dr. Pepper at all... I love your photo, though. Hope you had a good trip.

Dr Pepper is not Cherry flavored. It is a blend of 23 flavors. It is also not a cola like Coke or Pepsi. Also, the . was dropped from the name several years ago.

The best Dr Pepper is only available in Central Texas and is made with pure cane sugar not high fructose corn syrup. I wrote a tribute to DP.

Jenn, the Foodie

I come from a family who loves cooking and eating. I never had any formal training in cooking and that I taught myself how to cook based on the handed down recipes, but I could say that I can cook good food. In 2008, I started documenting my food trips for my travel blog, and since I have quite enough to start a food blog, might as well put all those food trips in one location. Thus, a food blog is born - thanks to the new Friendster Blogs. However, due to several problems, I was left with no choice but to pack bags again and move here instead. Here's the permanent address, promise! Enough talk, let the food trippin' begin! {Know More About Me}
