An American Lunch

Mc Donalds

When I vacationed in Bolinao, Pangasinan last April, the only time I got to eat out was when my cousin Dang and I went to Alaminos City so I could visit their church. When we arrived in the city, we took some time window shopping first, and all the walk made us hungry, so we decided to eat lunch. It's been a long time since I last ate at McDonald's, so when she asked me Jollibee or McDo, I immediately went for Mickey D's.

This was my lunch for that day. I love McDonald's cheese burgers, but I went for their double cheeseburger because this kind of burger had patties that tasted like it was flame grilled and not fried. In the "normal" times, my sister and I would go for the double cheeseburger deluxe, but it was a bit pricey for me, so I omitted the deluxe part of it. Of course, burgers go well with fries, and I went for the large one because I just missed eating french fries. When the crew asked what I wanted for a drink, I went for the green apple float. I guess at that time it was their summer drink - the float consisted of Sprite and green apple syrup with vanilla soft ice cream.

When I took our foods in the table (my cousin had a burger meal, too), I was wondering why my cousin was still in the counter. When she came, she was holding two cups of caramel sundae because she told me it was her late father's favorite snack. Uncle Dennis died of lung cancer, and during chemo sessions, he would feel his body burning inside, that his way of cooling himself was through this sundae. I am not into sweets, and that my drink already had ice cream, but I didn't want to hurt my cousin's feelings since she personally bought the sundae for me, so I just ate the ice cream and tried not to get the caramel. Actually, whenever I go for sundaes, I would always tell the crew to put in little of the syrup because I am not much into it.

It's been three months, and I still haven't eaten McDonalds since then. I am missing it, but not really, as I am really trying to lose weight. I guess I will say good bye to Ronald (McDonald) for good.

I love McDo's cheeseburger too. That's the only burger I order from their, paired with the fries!

I seldom eat at McDonalds here, I eat burgers from Carls Jr. For me, theirs are better than McDo's. Oh well, it's a personal choice. I'd love to try that green drink. Kinda interesting...we don't have them here.

I also prefer McDonald's over Jollibee's burgers, especially when we have them delivered. I love their McChicken Sandwich. Have you tried that? It's much healthful than their beefy burgers. But, I'd love to order their Quarter Pounder or Big Mac once in a while. Hehehe.

I love their Caramel sundae, but, I agree, it's really sinfully sweet. But, for me, it's okay if you only have it once a year or so.

Jenn, the Foodie

I come from a family who loves cooking and eating. I never had any formal training in cooking and that I taught myself how to cook based on the handed down recipes, but I could say that I can cook good food. In 2008, I started documenting my food trips for my travel blog, and since I have quite enough to start a food blog, might as well put all those food trips in one location. Thus, a food blog is born - thanks to the new Friendster Blogs. However, due to several problems, I was left with no choice but to pack bags again and move here instead. Here's the permanent address, promise! Enough talk, let the food trippin' begin! {Know More About Me}
