I Saw the "Food" Sign!

I struggled a bit for this week's theme, that as of this writing, I still am not convinced if I did the right thing. I wanted to use the picture I have of this food place with a funny sign, but it's no longer operational, so I decided to think of another thing to post. Searching through the old files led me to this.

Cafe Leona

Cafe Leona

In November of 2008, my British friend K went back to the Philippines and asked me to come on a holiday for 10 days. After checking out some places in Manila, we took the bus going to Vigan City, and on our first night we decided to eat dinner in Cafe Leona. Actually, at first we opted to eat the hotel were we stayed at, but the chef already left, so we had to go out. By the entrance of Calle Crisologo is Cafe Leona, and during night time, diners can choose from the produce they have in the cart and watch their food being cooked, then dine under the stars. Of course, people can still choose to eat inside the establishment and order from the menu.

Bacalao in Hollandaise Sauce

As featured in an old post, I chose to eat Bacalao with Hollandaise Sauce. It was one of the best tasting fish I have eaten. Quite expensive at 200+ pesos, but for a very delicious fish cut nearly as big as the sizzling plate, it was very much worth it. Well, K took care of it, all the more that I loved the fish (Mwah, K!)

Different Kinds of Sugar

But what I love about this food place was that when diners order coffee, they serve it three types of sugar to suit one's taste. I think I chose to put Splenda on my coffee that night. =)

Jenn, the Foodie

I come from a family who loves cooking and eating. I never had any formal training in cooking and that I taught myself how to cook based on the handed down recipes, but I could say that I can cook good food. In 2008, I started documenting my food trips for my travel blog, and since I have quite enough to start a food blog, might as well put all those food trips in one location. Thus, a food blog is born - thanks to the new Friendster Blogs. However, due to several problems, I was left with no choice but to pack bags again and move here instead. Here's the permanent address, promise! Enough talk, let the food trippin' begin! {Know More About Me}
