Carbonara

Making a comeback after a long hiatus from Food Friday...

Carbonara

Here in Food Friday, I want to feature foods that I personally cooked. During my hiatus, I sort of stopped taking pictures of the foods I cooked, and now that I am coming back, I realized I have nothing to share. =) So, at 10am this morning, I stopped playing Farm Town and decided to cook carbonara. After all, tummy was complaining as well.

I used sweet ham as my meat for the dish, and added some chopped bell peppers to add a little flavor. I was happy that we have nutmeg in the pantry again; when the bottle of nutmeg crushed into pieces, sister and I felt our heart was crushed, too! We love the taste of nutmeg in our dairy laden foods.

I set my camera to cloudy, hence the yellowish tone... if you have some tips about taking food pictures, please don't hesitate to throw in some for me. Thanks!

Thanks for the comments!

@DJ - The nutmeg adds a little sweetness to dairy dishes.

@Pacey - Kami naman we sprinkle it with chili powder. Masarap nga kapag medyo maanghang ang carbonara.

not a big fan or cream based pasta... mas gusto ko kasi red sauce or oil based. hehe.. but your recipe looks yummy. i'll ask my mom to try it, since sila kahit ano basta pasta eh mabenta :)

Have you tried using PF luncheon meat? ok din yun :)

I only use mushrooms or tuna with my carbonara because we are laying off processed meat.

Jenn, the Foodie

I come from a family who loves cooking and eating. I never had any formal training in cooking and that I taught myself how to cook based on the handed down recipes, but I could say that I can cook good food. In 2008, I started documenting my food trips for my travel blog, and since I have quite enough to start a food blog, might as well put all those food trips in one location. Thus, a food blog is born - thanks to the new Friendster Blogs. However, due to several problems, I was left with no choice but to pack bags again and move here instead. Here's the permanent address, promise! Enough talk, let the food trippin' begin! {Know More About Me}
