On our last full day in Panglao, Bohol... K and I decided to check out of Dumaluan Beach Resort and booked at the Paragayo Resort near Alona Beach. It was a very gloomy day - with a typhoon in the area that made the day wet, it pretty much ruined all the plans K and I had for the day. We were supposed to check out the dolphins and do the island hopping, or we were supposed to do day 2 of our road trip with Kuya Ricky (the driver), but since the typhoon was already there and we had no choice but to stay at a different resort.
The breakfast served in Dumaluan wasn't enough to sustain the tummies, so after dropping off our luggage, K and I walked to Alona Beach to enjoy the view the minute the rain stopped. Alona Beach was beautiful, but I didn't like it much, so we just decided to walk back to the resort.
I was so hungry - it was already 2PM, so we looked for a place to eat. The first place I chose was owned by a German folk, but their foods were so expensive. It was a good thing we entered Powder Keg, a food place that looks like a carinderia from the outside. When we checked the menu, it certainly was a great find for they offer a lot of foods that aren't really that expensive.
I was supposed to have pork sinigang, but when I flipped the menu and saw this monster burger, I showed it to K and one foreign man told me I should order it because it was deliciously big. I asked the man if he had tasted it already, and he said, "I should know, I created it." Turns out, he was the owner of the place.
The pork sinigang I could eat just about anywhere, and staying with my "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" creed, I decided to order the Monster Burger paired with Strawberry Shake. True to its word, it really was a monster burger! It was so big that the garnishes are on the plate and not on the bun, and it was so big you actually had to cut it with a knife and eat it with a fork! The meat had minimal seasoning - which is what I wanted (a la Burger King) so I could put as much mustard and ketchup into it. The strawberry shake was so creamy, and the serving was so generous that I needed a towel under the glass to catch the overflowing shake.
It took me about 30 minutes to eat the burger. My tummy was so full that I decided not to eat dinner anymore. K didn't eat dinner as well, the mushroom omelet was more than enough (it was a three-egg omelet).
