From My Kitchen | Carbonara

I still haven't cooked any new recipes, but I will try to cook one by Friday... for now, let me share something I cooked from two weeks ago:

Carbonara

Since cousin Jayson left (he is now based in Laguna), the family isn't into planning the meals anymore, and would just cook whatever food is available, but during most times, my sister and I would eat pasta, regardless of what we put in it. Sometimes, we'd just add butter in the newly cooked pasta and sprinkle it with grated cheese and we'd rave about how good our lunch was. For this day, though, I cooked carbonara, because I noticed that the cream in the fridge has been sitting there for a few days.

Cooking this, I used ground beef and some slices of Vienna Sausage and canned button mushrooms. Very simple sauce - I just added the cream and some evaporated milk to the cooked beef, sausage, and mushroom, and waited 'til it thickened. I also added a dash of nutmeg and Italian seasoning to add a little flavor.

Though I still prefer my carbonara with bacon, this was good enough for lunch. Now that I re-started my diet and fitness program, I think it would take a long, long time before I could cook this again.

That's really yummy. It's been sooo long since I made carbonara, because I'm afraid my tummy would become flabby again! Agh, nagugutom tuloy ako.

Oh, btw, I'd like to invite you to join the Weekday Potluck Meme and link up your food entries for the week! :)

Hi, Pearl! Thanks for the invitation. I just linked this one to your potluck party.

I so agree with you, nakaka-flabby talaga ito, kaya I will try my best not to cook this for a while muna.
I love Carbonara especially if it's made with bacon :)

I come from a family who loves cooking and eating. I never had any formal training in cooking and that I taught myself how to cook based on the handed down recipes, but I could say that I can cook good food. In 2008, I started documenting my food trips for my travel blog, and since I have quite enough to start a food blog, might as well put all those food trips in one location. Thus, a food blog is born - thanks to the new Friendster Blogs. However, due to several problems, I was left with no choice but to pack bags again and move here instead. Here's the permanent address, promise! Enough talk, let the food trippin' begin! {Know More About Me}
