Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa

Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa

Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa

...with a humongous crab!

Our lunch one time last week. Mom bought two super huge crabs and knowing her kids don't really eat crabs, she just asked me to cook ginataang sitaw at kalabasa so we could eat, too. Hehehehe. I quartered one of the crabs and cooked it in the dish, but for presentation, I just spooned out some of the veggies and laid it in the platter with the big crab.

It was a great lunch - this is one of our favorite dish (we just love ginataan), but of course mom gets to eat most of the crabs. As long as there are some meat in it, or maybe some fried fish, I'd be a happy eater. =)

Happy weekends, everyone!

Fried Chicken

Fried Chicken

Once, my sister and I did the grocery, and because it took us nearly an hour to do it and it was very late in the afternoon already, we decided to eat early dinner already. We didn't want to carry all the bags to the upper ground floor of the mall, so we just ate at the food court.

Before, my sister and I loved to eat foods from Chicken Company because they serve big pieces of chicken, compared to the others. However, as time went on, many restaurants and fast food shops were serving better tasting chicken, so we've already forgotten how Chicken Company's food taste like already.

The Chicken Company serves a lot of chicken dishes, but my favorite will always be the lemon pepper chicken. I just love the tangy lemon taste mixed with the spicy peppery taste. Paired with the buttered mixed veggies, it's so great... but for this, they gave me a little cup of lomi.

It still tasted like the way I used to love it. Delicious!

Mom's 60th

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Mom celebrated her 60th birthday yesterday, and of course this very special occasion shouldn't pass without a celebration. So many foods were served that day (we had the party here in the house), but I decided to share this cake, because half of this cake was from the GC I got when I attended the Red Ribbon event. It was so nice when you get to see (and taste) the product of your "hardwork." Hehehehe.

Happy birthday, mommy. I love you so much!

Hotdogs

Hotdogs

Last weekend, after coming home from my short trip in Divine Mercy Shrine, I attended a children's party. It's the birthday of 'te Indang, our neighbor. She celebrated her 39th birthday on 02 September, but they had the celebration 30 August. It was a children's party, yes... because of an accident when she was still a baby, her mind is as if she's only 7 years old. Well, she's not really that immature - she can do a lot of things adults can do, there were just some instances that you might not be able to understand her way of reasoning.

Anyway, since it's a children's party and most of the guests were kids, they prepared all sorts of foods that would appeal to kids - including this one: hotdog on stick with marshmallow. Actually it's more of a hotdog with marshmallow on a toothpick, hehehe... It's cute to see these small hotdog balls - I didn't know there was a new kind of hotdog, last thing I saw were the cocktails, which was a smaller version of the regular hotdog.

But this was a big hit in the party. I, too, loved it in the sense that I can eat it in one bite (taking out the toothpick first, of course)... and it was just then that I realized that hotdogs and marshmallows tasted good when eaten together. One salty, the other sweet. Delicious!

Divine Breakfast

Breakfast

To those who read a post in An Autobiography in the Works (my personal blog), you probably know that I went to the Divine Mercy Shrine with my friend Humps. When we arrived in the church, we roamed a bit, and upon seeing a little food kiosk, we decided to eat breakfast first.

He had the chicken mami, while I opted for the plain lugaw. He just bought a serving of fried tokwa to go with my food. It didn't really taste good - the rice in the lugaw was way too mushy (it actually didn't look like rice at all), and the chicken mami was very salty, but it did manage to fuel us up for a whole morning of walking and picture taking. =)

Thanks for the breakfast treat, Humps!

Jenn, the Foodie

I come from a family who loves cooking and eating. I never had any formal training in cooking and that I taught myself how to cook based on the handed down recipes, but I could say that I can cook good food. In 2008, I started documenting my food trips for my travel blog, and since I have quite enough to start a food blog, might as well put all those food trips in one location. Thus, a food blog is born - thanks to the new Friendster Blogs. However, due to several problems, I was left with no choice but to pack bags again and move here instead. Here's the permanent address, promise! Enough talk, let the food trippin' begin! {Know More About Me}
