P = Piping Bags

This picture was shot when my siblings and I attended the QC Na! Kulinarya, Talento, atbp. last August. It is (now) an annual celebration about the rich contributions to culinary in Quezon City. It was a three day event, but we attended just the second day, where we watched a Market Basket contest of some professional chefs / cooks working in restaurants and culinary schools in the city, Bartending contest, and the last event - where this picture was taken - the Cake Decorating competition.

The piping bags have to be one of the most important tools for everyone who's into pastries. It's through this that pastry chefs can make intricate decorations in their cakes and other pastries.

Sweet and Sour Fish

For this week's Eat Out Series, I am taking another food from last year. This Sweet and Sour Fish dish was one of the foods the family ate for lunch in Max's Restaurant. I think this was the only time we got to eat there in 2008. We found prices in this restaurant a bit pricey, so we always prefer eating elsewhere, but on this particular day, we decided to eat there.

I loved how this dish tasted. The vegetables were crispy, the sauce was just right, and the fish fillet weren't salty and soggy from the sauce. The pineapple and the bell peppers gave it a different taste that made me want for more.

I tried copying this dish, but I just couldn't get it. Oh well... that means, if I want to eat sweet and sour fish, I have to go back to Max's. =)

Shades of Spring and Summer

There's no spring here in the Philippines, so I would just concentrate on the summer part of the theme. =) When someone says summer, one of the foods I could think of is the mango, so I just looked for foods with mango in it. These two foods were taken from Italianni's, but on two different occasions.

The first picture featured the fruit shakes served to us at the first bloggers' event I attended in Italianni's Bonifacio High Street. Since the bloggers arrived in different times, drinks were served in different times, too, hence the uneven amounts in the glasses. I owned the watermelon shake, my sister owned the mango shake, and my blogging friend Jonel owned the kiwi shake.

The second picture - the Sicillian Chicken Salad was from Italianni's Gateway Mall. When sister and I attended the blogging event, they gave all the participants 1000 pesos of GCs, and we used it for a family lunch out. I wanted mom to taste the salad, so that's what we had. This was the best salad I have ever had, but my brother wasn't really a fan of it.
